Rusty Embellished Monoprint Valentine with Tim Holtz Dies and Oxides

Hello friends! It's almost Valentine's Day, and I have one more Valentine card to share with you. While I had my Valentine crafty goodies out for my rusty card I made for Frilly and Funkie HERE, I decided to make one inspired by this tag by my fabulously talented Frilly and Funkie teammate, Zoe Hillman.  I've used Distress Oxides to create a monoprint background and made lots of rusty embellishments with die cuts, paints, crayons, embossing powders, and inks.

I gave these two good friends a good vintage vibe with my distressing tool, Vintage Photo Distress ink (of course!) and a splatter of Walnut Stain Distress Paint. I added texture to my heart background with an old embossing folder.

The flowers were taken from a vintage hat I picked up at a recent estate sale. The actual hat is standing in as a prop for my first photo. A Quote Chip was chosen for my sentiment, and I layered it on a couple of lace die cuts and some vintage lace from my stash.

I love Tim's index clips. I altered this clip and tucked in a Remnant Rub.

That's it for me today! Here's one more shot of my completed Valentine. Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm sharing with these challenges:

Thank you for stopping by today and for all your wonderful comments!
Hugs and Blessings!

  2. Beautiful card, Sara Emily! Love the colors of the background mixed with the grunge. The vintage flowers are a wonderful added touch. I see that hat is filled with quite a few! I have a question--when you apply the Distress Ink to the paper dolls, how do you keep it from rubbing off?
